General Information

The Club meets at the Speke Hall, Dowlish Wake near Ilminster at 7 pm every Tuesday. We are affiliated to the EBU, but we do not issue Master points. We usually play a 24-board duplicate pairs session, with between seven and nine tables.

We are proud of our reputation as a very friendly club and have members of all standards from improvers upwards.

Table money is £2 per head which includes Tea/Coffee/Soft Drinks and Biscuits. A host is always available thus ensuring that new members and visitors will be made welcome and guaranteed a game.

The EBU Proposals for Future Affiliation

As you may be aware from April 2010 all clubs affiliated to the EBU will have to participate in the “Pay to Play” Scheme.

In effect this means that anyone wishing to play at an affiliated Bridge Club will automatically become a member of the EBU and be required to pay an amount ( currently set at 29p ) in addition to table money, each time they play.  The Club will also be required to forward members’ details to the EBU for Master Point registration.

It is our belief that “Pay to Play” will have no benefit to the ordinary Club player or to this Club.

It is our intention therefore to disaffiliate Ilminster Duplicate Bridge Club from the EBU with effect from April 2010.

Individual EBU Members will still be welcome to play at this Club, if they so desire.
